Spring Has Sprung

Colleen McCall is a full-time studio potter and teaching artist in Elmira, New York. She has an obsession with color and tolerates winter by painting vibrant floral patterns on her handmade pottery from her underground home based studio. Spring is by far her favorite season. “I love observing the gentle reemergence of color to our world and anticipating the next garden bloom.” Her inspiration varies from natural realistic blooms to stylized abstract florals. Vintage textiles, wall coverings and historical depictions of flowers from all over the world are all part of the mix to create fresh functional heirloom quality dinnerware, home and garden decor.

In addition to my online shop I’m a long time member of Handwork, an Artisan Coop in Ithaca, NY. Upcoming shows include the Peters Valley Virtual Craft Market May 1-2 10am-5pm both days. Tickets are available via the Peters Valley School for Craft to shop and visit with up to 80 juried artists. Colleen will be presenting live demos from her studio both days starting at 4pm. The Finger Lakes Pottery Tour resumes it’s in-person outdoor event June 5-6 in the Ithaca area. Next up is the Western NY Pottery Festival June 19-20 in Avon, NY near Rochester followed by the Elmira Handmade Market July 31.
