My most unusual shape, the salad trough, also happens to be my most popular item. I can't make them fast enough for my shelves at the artisan coop in Ithaca, NY. I guess we eat a lot of salad in upstate New York or folks really like their pots decorated inside and out.

I enjoy coordinating patterns and fitting them to this unique rectangular shape. Many of my pottery forms are inspired by vintage glassware. I make a plaster mold of the glass dish altering the form as needed to increase it’s function or surface area for decorating. Once the plaster mold is dry I can gently press a soft slab of clay into it like making a pie crust. I can repeat this process every day to craft the same form over and over. It’s akin to stretching a canvas for painting, a functional canvas that is.

These tubs work well as a smaller serving dish for asparagus, peas or corn. My daughter uses hers as a makeup organizer displayed on her bathroom counter. It’s truly one of my most versatile products. They even stack together for easy cupboard storage if you want to collect a set.

Dimensions: 8 1/2 inches wide by 5 inches by 2 3/4 inches tall

    Contains approximately 2 1/2 cups.

All materials are food safe and very sturdy. Hand wash if you prefer but note that it is fine for use in the dishwasher, microwave or oven.

I've suspended custom orders until I have a more reliable clay body. My current batch of dark brown clay has an impurity that randomly appears during the glaze firing causing metallic spotting or bloating.

My work is both elegant AND durable. I intend for it to be used frequently and it is designed for the rigor of daily use. My palette of colors and glazes are lead-free, non-toxic. All my ware is dishwasher, microwave and oven safe unless it has gold luster on it. To preserve the luster I recommend hand washing. In the case of reheating baked goods, place the item in a cold oven and allow it to come to temperature at the same time.
